Chickasha, OK (pop. 16,000), the county seat of Grady County, is located 45 minutes southwest of Oklahoma City and 40 minutes west of Norman. Chickasha is situated on Interstate 44 at its intersection with US Highways 81, 281, 62 and several state highways. The Oklahoma City SMSA is one of the fastest growing in the nation. Reporting directly to the City Manager, the Chief of Police is a recognized community leader and commands a police agency of 41 members, 26 of which are sworn officers. Department members are represented by the Fraternal Order of Police. In addition to law enforcement, the Department has responsibility for code enforcement and animal control. The annual operating budget for CPD in FY 2017 is $3.1 million. Divisions with CPD include Patrol, Criminal Investigations, Support Services, Communications, Animal Control, Code Enforcement and Municipal Court.
